The weekend

From road to forest.

The trip moved quickly from highway travel into the Baldwin area and then onto Forest Service roads, where the landscape opened into pine, hardwoods, sandy tracks, lakes, and dispersed-camping country.

With the canoe, tarp, wool blankets, and already-packed outdoor gear, the camp itself becomes part of the experience—not a destination separated from it.
